THIS IS OUR NEW
LOGO!!!
This logo tells
the story of Pecan Grove Baptist Church. It was created as a word
picture of Exodus 15:22-25 and 2 Corinthians 5:17. This is how it all
works for Pecan Grove Baptist:
The rough edges represent the
boundaries of our lives. The edges of the waters of Marah would not
have been clean and nice. Neither are the borders of our lives. We
come to the Lord rough and raw. We walk with Him authentically – not
prettied up or made up. The blue water further draws on the waters of
Marah.
The cross identifies Jesus as
the One who affects our lives. Moses threw wood in the water and
Jesus hung on a cross. The wood foreshadowed the cross. As God used
the wood to change the waters of Marah from bitter to sweet, so too, God
uses the cross of Jesus to change our lives from darkness to light.
The ruggedness of the cross
symbolizes the reality of Jesus’ life. Contrary to many pictures,
Jesus did now live with a glow around His body. He was real flesh and
blood. He lived in the same world you and I live in. And when He was
crucified, He was crucified on a rugged beat up cross.
The placement of the cross shows
the centrality of Jesus in our lives. He covers from border to
border. Jesus, and Jesus alone, is our salvation, hope, healing, power,
and everything else – He is our lives. We are those who love Him, seek
Him, and serve Him above all.
The permanence of the cross
demonstrates the necessity of being in Christ. At Marah, the wood
remained on the water and affected change. According to 2 Corinthians
5:7, we are new creatures when we are “in Christ.” Salvation is not
about praying a prayer but entering into a lifelong relationship with
Jesus Christ as the Lord of our lives.
The logo is also a call to
share the excellencies of Christ to all people. If He is everything
to us then we must go and share His glory with all people. We seek to
lead people to Jesus.
In short, this is who God is making
us to be.
We have placed this new logo on
shirts and mugs and have it coming on new stationery, business cards,
campus signs, and a new website. Our hope is that it will effectively
identify and communicate who we are.
The world needs Jesus.
